Year 2 - Owl
Welcome to Owl Class!
We have 23 children in our class and our teacher is Miss Blesic. We also now have the wonderful addition of Mrs Polito to the Year 2 team, who will teach the class on Mondays.
Miss Blesic teaches on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays mornings and Fridays.
Mrs Brown is our Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) who works with us during the week and will teach on Thursday afternoons.
We also have Mrs Hicks and Mr Brown supporting in the classroom at different times in the week.
We look forward to welcoming her into Owl class and showing her all of the exciting new things we will be learning about.

Autumn 2023
‘A Walk on the Wild Side...’ is our cross curricular theme this term and we will be travelling around the world to find out about how different animals have adapted to different habitats, how they obtain food and locating the world’s countries and oceans on maps.
Spring 2024
‘All the Way to Buckingham Palace...’ & ‘A Step Back in Time’ are our cross curricular themes this term.
We will be focussing on London as our capital city to begin with and exploring all of the well-known landmarks that can be found there. We will be practising our geographical skills by studying maps and then making plans to devise our own maps with keys. We will practise and use our geographical skills in the classroom and around the school grounds and will later go on to compare the village of Steeple Morden with the city of London!
After half term our focus will move to a historical one when we travel back in time and explore what life was like in London at the time of the Great Fire of London of 1666. We will explore the different ways we can find out about life in the past (within our living memory and beyond). We will be looking at the life and works of significant figures in our history as part of this research. These individuals will include Queen Elizabeth II, Queen Victoria, Florence Nightingale and Samuel Pepys.
