Year 3 Spring Homework Task

Dear Year Three parents,

We have all had an exciting and enthusiastic start to our ‘Golden Voyage of Discovery’ topic. The children have so far enjoyed looking at the features of biographies, writing creative stories influenced by Shakespeare, found out about different types of rocks and soils using this to design jewelled gifts for the queen, studied the use of symbols in portraits, located places on a UK map that Elizabeth visited as well as finding the countries visited worldwide by her explorers. To compliment this work, this terms take home task should be something broadly related to our topic, this could be about foods found in the New World, designing a palace for Elizabeth, researching an area of Elizabethan life eg. clothing.

They could think about their favourite Shakespeare story, and create a board game set around the stories events. Alternatively think about the themes in the story and write a modern version. Write a script for a favourite scene along with stage directions and suggested props. Plan and cook (one part) of a Tudor banquet for the queen.

These are only suggestions, please feel free to come up with your own ideas, anything goes as long as it is somehow related to our topic ‘Golden Voyage of Discovery’

Please create something different to your last take home task, so if you made a game for ’Dahlicious’, think of something different for ‘Golden Voyage of Discovery’

The children will share their take home tasks with the class during the week directly after half term (week beginning 25.2.19)

The work produced should reflect the time that has been given for it, parental help, support and fun is encouraged.

Happy creating
